National Testing Network Receives Flying Colors in CPAT Audit
Ergometrics is pleased to announce that one of their divisions, National Testing Network, has successfully completed a very stringent audit by the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). NTN is a full service outsourced testing program that has over 20 testing locations nationally. One of the services NTN offers at four of its centers across the country is Candidate Physical Abilities Testing (CPAT) certification for entry level firefighter candidates. Last month NTN's testing headquarters in Everett, WA and their satellite location in St. Petersburg, FL both passed the IAFF audit of the CPAT with 100% compliance.
The testing centers are set up to meet IAFF standards for physical ability testing by having comprehensive facilities capable of full CPAT certifications. The IAFF inspection was a multi stage event, were IAFF representatives viewed the facilities in their current operations. Items verified ranged from required equipment to timed proctoring to dimensional specs. Jim Patten the center director in Everett spent weeks preparing for the inspection and noted "I was surprised by the detail the IAFF went to for this audit. Not only did they verify our equipment and course dimensions, they also went as far to check the depth of our cement etched floor to ensure the load drag for our dummy rescue was to spec. Being off by an 1/8 of an inch can affect load weights which could mean we were not to IAFF standards. I was pleased to receive notification that we completed all phases of the audit and met the strict standards set forth by the IAFF."
Nationally, in 2010, NTN administered Ergometrics' video-based exams to just over 10,000 candidates in multiple disciplines from fire, police, corrections, emergency services and transit. Candidates testing for CPAT through NTN's four testing centers reached just over 2,000.
