ERGOMETRICS & Applied Personnel Research, Inc. is a human resource management firm specializing in personnel selection and training. Our research and programs have been used in the selection and training of thousands of workers.
We are expert in organizational research, particularly dealing with human
resource issues. Our primary focus is to assist management in understanding and
predicting human performance in the organization. Our methods of research are professional and always heavily focused on providing useful and
administratively feasible tools.

Areas of Consulting Expertise
Job Analysis
ERGOMETRICS has designed and implemented many different job analysis systems for a variety of purposes including test validation, job evaluation, compensation and management development. We have done job analytic studies for hundreds of different occupational groups.
Test Development
Development of employee selection and promotional systems constitutes a large portion of our business. ERGOMETRICS's testing systems have focused on custom made procedures, which have ranged from written tests and structured interviews to physical performance tests and the use of video simulations. We have designed selection procedures for most types of occupations including:
- Clerical, office assistant, accounting,
- Laborer and skilled trades,
- Public safety occupations: police, firefighter, corrections officer,
- Production jobs in manufacturing,
- Supervisory and management positions,
- Public contact,
- Money handling,
- Human interaction testing,
- and many more.
Test Validation
ERGOMETRICS has extensive experience in the documentation of test validity. In addition to validation of our own tests, we have also conducted numerous validity studies of other exams. These validation procedures are frequently highly technical and criterion-related.
Training
ERGOMETRICS has designed training programs for a variety of occupational groups. Job training programs include technical training for television station employees and customer service training for restaurants, complete with short and long term follow-up studies of vocational success of training graduates. We have developed tests, performance appraisals and other measurement instruments to be used in training. ERGOMETRICS has designed procedures for evaluation of success of management development programs and put together surveys on training needs assessment.
Physical Ability Testing
ERGOMETRICS has pioneered research and development of methods and measurement techniques to implement job-related physical performance screening. Our system has been
adopted and used nationally by a variety of manufacturing, public sector and
fund processing clients. Examples of jobs studied include forest products,
sanitation, food processing, maintenance, line work, and a variety of
manufacturing occupations.
Performance Evaluation
We have designed and evaluated behaviorally anchored performance evaluation systems for clerical, laborer, craft, supervisory, police, corrections officer and technical and managerial occupations within a number of organizations. The scales resulted directly from job analysis and in every case produced useful and reliable results. ERGOMETRICS has designed a modified
management by objectives approach for clerical and technical occupations.
Survey Research
ERGOMETRICS has extensive experience with measurement of employee attitudes and job satisfaction. Developing innovative survey procedures for audit of factors affecting employee
satisfaction, performance and safety, including attitudinal, environmental and task related factors. Several follow-up systems have been developed to evaluate both short and long term career success of vocational trainees.
Workshops and Seminars
ERGOMETRICS conducts workshops in the following areas: employment interviewing, communications in the workplace, understanding cultural diversity, employee upgrading, assessment centers, test validation, performance appraisal, job analysis, physical performance testing and cooperative test validation for a variety of managerial and professional personnel groups.
